Emirates has been named as a sponsor for the Australian Open.

People on flights to Australia with Emirates in time for the Australian Open may be interested to know that the carrier is set to sponsor the event.

For the next three years the airline is set hold naming rights after the agreement with the World Sport Group.

It is a move which cements Emirates association with golfing tournament, as it is the main sponsor with 18 other events worldwide.

“Since joining as the Official Airline of the Australian Open in 2009, Emirates has been an integral part of the success of Golf Australia and the growth of the championship,” said Barry Brown, Emirates’ vice-president Australasia.

He added that they look forward to promoting the sport in New South Wales and across Australia.

Those who travel on flights to Australia with V Australia could enjoy award-winning service, after it was given prizes for its food and as best carrier in the region at the recent 2011 Airline Passenger Experience Association awards.
