The Australian branch of Virgin airlines has picked up a duo of consumer awards.

Travellers on flights to Australia who are planning to travel with V Australia could be interested to know the company has picked up several consumer awards.

The 2011 Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) Passenger Choice Awards were held in the US and saw the carrier pick up several gongs at the event, which is voted for by members of the public.

Prizes included being named the best airline for the region of Asia and Australasia and best food and beverages provided on the flight.

Virgin Australia group executive for product and guest services Martin Daley said: “V Australia would like to thank our guests who took the time to vote for us. Clearly, we are providing the best level of product and services for them.”

Some people could get a chance to try Virgin’s award-winning service on flights to Perth, as the airline has recently created a new business class service on some of its trips from the east coast.
