A new marina could be built in Goa to attract high-end visitors.
Plans to build a high-end marina in Goa have been backed by the Union tourism ministry.
People booking flights to Goa will be well aware of the state’s stunning coastline scenery and officials believe that the addition of an up-market yacht marina will only add to the Goan appeal.
State tourism secretary Mathew Samuels told the Herald yesterday (October 1st): “The consultant has identified some spots that may be favourable for setting up yacht marinas in the state.”
In the past, there had been plans to build similar sites at Sancoale, Talpona and Tiracol, but now Britona has emerged as the leading candidate for development.
All proposals will be run past the Ports Administration so technical details such as navigational and berthing aspects could be sorted.
Once the marina is built, Mr Samuels believes that Goa will see a big improvement in the number of affluent tourists visiting the region.
