A resort has welcomed new flights to Thailand operated by Qatar Airways.The carrier launched the new services in October to Phuket and Bangkok from Doha and a Thai resort believes this has helped to boost the country’s appeal to travellers from the Middle East.Laguna Phuket is a 1,100 acre resort that consists of seven hotels and villa properties with facilities such as an 18-hole golf course, 30 restaurants and bars, five spas and private beaches.

The resort is operated by Dusit International and the company claims to have seen a sharp rise in visitor numbers since Qatar Airways began offering the new flights.

Sam-Erik Ruttmann, regional vice-president for the Middle East at Dusit International, said: “We are delighted that Qatar Airways has recognised the potential for Phuket and look forward to working closely with them in the future.”

Laguna Phuket is 20 minutes drive from Phuket international airport and an 80 minute flight from Bangkok.
