Etihad has announced it will be launching a new route flying to the capital of Libya.

Travellers taking flights to Dubai and other regions of the Middle East with Etihad may be interested to know the carrier has announced a new route.

Etihad has revealed that it will be starting a service to Tripoli, the capital of Libya, making it the fourth north African destination served by the carrier.

Chief executive officer of Etihad Airways James Hogan explained that the carrier is planning to at first offer three flights to the city a week.

“As soon as the NATO no-fly zone is lifted, the airport is declared safe and all appropriate infra-structure is in place we will be able to begin services,” he said.

He added that it is hoped the new service will be fully operational within weeks.

Some people heading to the region on flights to Dubai could be interested in heading to the Eighth Dubai City of Gold Conference, which is set to unveil several new varieties of gold.
