The Mall of the Emirates in Dubai is the seventh most lucrative in the world, according to new research.

During the build-up to Christmas, those people who love shopping should think about booking flights to Dubai.

The emirate has long been synonymous with a great and luxurious retail experience and now some new research has confirmed that it has one of the world’s busiest shopping centres.

Mall of the Emirates has been listed as the seventh most productive shopping centre in the world, as it earns $1,423 (£887) per square foot per annum, according to a study by the International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC).

The ICSC states this makes it nearly three-times more profitable than the average retail complex and its sales eclipsed some of the most famous malls in Los Angeles, Orlando and Toronto.

Last year, the Mall of the Emirates welcomed more than 36 million shoppers, but in the first six months of 2013, the centre has already seen 20 million people pass through its doors.
