New research has shown that Dubai is now the world’s joint-top shopping destination.

Shopaholics looking to find all their favourite brands in one place are advised to book flights to Dubai, as the Emirati city has been named as the world’s joint top shopping destination.

Only London can match Dubai’s boast of being home to 56 per cent of the world’s major retail brands, according to the latest research from CB Richard Ellis (CBRE).

Visitors won’t be stuck for space either, with 1.2 million square metres of shop floor space opened in the UAE city during the past five years.

American retailers are also flocking to Dubai, with CBRE noting this particular trend over the past 18 months.

Third in the poll was New York (with 44.3 per cent of all retail brands), closely followed by the French capital of Paris (43.6 per cent) and the oriental city of Hong Kong (40.6 per cent).

Major shopping centres in Dubai to tempt shopaholics include the Ibn Battuta Mall, the Al Ghurair Centre and the Al Mulla Plaza.
