Some of the most iconic buildings in Phuket will be looking their best again soon following restoration work.

People taking flights to Phuket could soon be able to see some of the city’s most famous locations looking their very best as restoration projects have been announced.

Visitors to the city will be able to see the Standard Chartered Bank and the police station in Phuket Town back to their former glory again soon as work will be carried out to improve the look of the structures, the Phuket Gazette reported.

Getting started on the work is a matter of urgency, according to local culture champion Pranee Sakulpipatana.

She told the newspaper: “Both are featured on post cards and promotional materials for Phuket and both are falling apart. We are now working to have them restored and used as public museums to attract more visitors to town.”

Travellers on flights to Phuket who attend the city’s air show later this month could see it have a very romantic ending, as a skydiver is planning to land on the beach to marry his partner.
