The Queen is to sample some of the favourite food of Australians during her visit to the country.

People on flights to Perth soon could decide to follow in the footsteps of the Queen and tuck into a BBQ during their stay.

The monarch is set to pay a visit to Australia later this month and some of the activities which she and the Duke of Edinburgh will participate in have been revealed.

Arriving in Canberra, her majesty will attend Floriade flower show, before also enjoying some other typically Australian attractions, like riding a tram in Melbourne and relax on a river cruise in Brisbane.

Before departing from Perth, the last stop of the visit, they will be guests of honour at a community BBQ event in the city.

It will be the 16th time that the queen has travelled to Australia, with the last visit taking place in 2006.

People heading on flights to Perth next year who are planning to pay a visit to Adelaide could sample some of the other culinary delights of the country by visiting the Tasting Australia festival.
