People planning a flight to Australia may find Perth has plenty to offer.

The city of Perth is an oft-overlooked destination – but certainly one  worth exploring, according to a newspaper writer.

Neerja Singh of the Khaleej Times reported that while many holidaymakers planning their first trip to Australia choose to start their holiday in Melbourne or Sydney, Perth “has a charm and feel all its own”.

Those who take a cheap flight to Australia in the warm summer months may wish to catch an open-air film screening in the Kookaburra Outdoor Cinema, while year-round attractions in Perth include Kings Park – located on the Swan River – and Dolphin Quay, where visitors can sample local seafood.

Nearby, the beaches on the Sunset Coast are ideal for swimming, sunbathing and surfing, while Perth Zoo is sure to provide an enjoyable holiday for travellers of all ages.

The Perth Tourist Centre also recommends holidaymakers take a short journey to the nearby port city of Freemantle, which offers plenty of cafes, markets, eateries and entertainment.
