Qantas has picked up a prize voted for by members of the UK public.

More people could be planning to take flights to Australia soon after Qantas handed a prize by the British Travel Awards (BTA).

The company’s Qantas Holidays branch was given a top prize at the BTA event after it was named as the best tour operator in Australasia for the second year running.

Voted for by the British public, the awards are seen as being a definitive monitor of the public’s opinion on the travel industry and its performance.

BTA’s chief executive Lorraine Barnes-Burton, said: “The winning accolades are the benchmark for excellence when it comes to finding out who really is the best in the business of travel for the UK consumer.”

More than 700,000 people cast their votes for this year’s awards.

Some people on flights to Australia could soon be travelling on the new Dreamliner, as Qantas recently welcomed the aircraft to Sydney for the first time earlier this month.
