Qantas has announced the latest steps in introducing its new check-in service.

People taking flights to Australia could be among those able to take advantage of a new check-in service being offered by Qantas.

The airline has announced the launch of its faster, smarter check-in service with the Q Card Reader.

This service has been used on domestic flights but it is now to be used on journeys departing from Sydney to Auckland and Wellington in New Zealand.

Qantas chief executive officer Alan Joyce said: “Our trans-Tasman frequent flyers can now scan their frequent flyer card and passport and retrieve their boarding pass within seconds of arriving at the airport. It’s all about cutting down the journey time.”

Some travellers could be planning to take flights to Australia in order to meet adjoining journeys from Perth, after Qantas announced it would be increasing the number of domestic flights operating from the terminal.
