Perhentian Islands Malaysia

Perhentian Islands is a set of two islands, situated 20 kilometres towards the northeast of the Malaysian Peninsula. Of the two islands, Perhentian Besar is the larger one and attracts couples and families, while Perhentian Kecil is the smaller one and is popular among budget travellers. Both the islands have numerous accommodation options, ranging from luxurious resorts to small lodges. This destination is just perfect for adventure buffs and water sports enthusiasts. Getting to Perhentian

To reach this destination, you can take a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bharu or Kuala Terengganu. After that, hop onto a taxi or a local bus to Kuala Besut, from where you can easily get a ferry to Perhentian. Ferries from Kuala Besut to Perhentian are operated on frequent basis. If you are fond of adventures, you can also choose to take the Jungle Train from Gemas and Kota Bharu. It is a great offbeat experience as you would not find many taking the Jungle Train.

Best Time to Visit

If you like to spend your holidays amidst lively crowds of people, August and September are the best months for you. During these months, one also gets a great chance to explore underwater life as the water is perfectly clear and the weather is favourable. If you are at the Perhentian Islands for your honeymoon and want to spend lots of private moments, then April to June is the best time for you. The beaches are delightfully secluded and the waters are calm.

Perhentian Islands offer a lot when it comes to attractions and activities. You can follow numerous hiking trails on both the islands. There is not much wildlife here but you can spot monitor lizards, monkeys, fruit bats, and certain species of birds. If you are looking for a nightlife ambiance, then Perhentian Kecil would be a good choice.
