Young people find the mix of scenery and sport in New Zealand very tempting.
New Zealand is emerging as one of the most popular long-haul destination for young people looking for the holiday of a lifetime.
According to Stuff, the 15-29 age group is not only expanding, but it is out performing the rest of the country’s inbound tourism market.
Briton Joe Whittaker told the news provider that he will be spending a total of four months in New Zealand, stating: “I wanted to come to a beautiful country [and] because of Lord of the Rings.”
The country enjoyed a big tourist boom when its scenery was showcased in the Oscar-winning trilogy and it is expected the upcoming hobbit films will have a similar effect.
Tourism NZ is ready to capitalise and will shortly launch the next step of a global campaign that it implemented 12 months ago.
As well as the beautiful countryside, many young people are attracted to New Zealand due to its reputation for extreme sports, with the South Island in particular singled-out as a world-class place for adrenaline junkies.
