Titled by UNESCO in 1998 as the ‘Cultural Capital of the Arab World’, Sharjah is a dream destination for travellers who have an affinity for art and culture. Not only this, it is widely-known for a number of amazing places for children. So, if you are visiting Sharjah with kids, you may want to know about some of these places.
Sharjah Desert Park
Open on all days except Tuesday, the Sharjah Desert Park has three appealing venues, namely Sharjah Natural History and Botanical Museum, the Children’s Farm, and the Arabian Wildlife Centre. The wildlife centre has a zoo, aviary, and breeding centre. Kids can check out reptiles, birds, and mammals here. At Children’s Farm, one may feed goats and cattle. The breeding centre is not open to the public though!
Al Montazah
One of the most exciting theme parks in the UAE, the Al Montazah is a fun-packed venue with thrilling rides and remarkable amusements. Some of the rides, available exclusively for children are Ballerina, Ranger, Worm Train, Bumper Cars, and BYKY. There are various activities too. This 126,000 square metre amusement park has cafes and restaurants as well as facilities for sports and shopping. Al Montazah has been developed for people of all age groups.
Sharjah Discovery Centre
An entertainment centre for children aged 3 to 12 years, the Sharjah Discovery Centre highlights the role of science and technology in our daily lives. Kids learn a lot many things here in a fun-filled way. There are seven areas here, specifically – The Drive Town, Build Town, Airport, TV studio, Sound Zone, Climbing Walls, and petroleum refinery. There’s also a separate place for learning about the human anatomy.
Sharjah Aquarium
Those who have a fondness for aquatic creatures should step into Sharjah Aquarium, which reveals the secret world of the deep sea. At this spot, individuals can observe the local fish and get to know about the time-honoured coasts and ports of the city. With two floors featuring 20 aquariums, together containing 1.8 million litres of water, Sharjah Aquarium is a class apart! The waters here contain more than 150 species of marine life.
Al Qasba
A cultural and entertainment landmark, the Al Qasba is home to tourist attractions such as the Eye of The Emirates Wheel, Musical Fountain, The Kids Fun Zone, BYKY, and Furat Qaddouri Music Center. To elaborate, The Kids Fun Zone is a safe and specially-designed environment for interesting activities. Also, the Eye of The Emirates Wheel allows children and others to enjoy spectacular sights of majestic monuments and the Gulf coast.
