Phuket is becoming increasingly popular to overseas tourists.
New figures have revealed that Phuket is an increasingly popular option for people looking to have a Thai experience.
Bangkok is still the most popular destination for holidaymakers in the country, but the island of Phuket has always been a favourite of those looking for a more relaxing time.
And it seems that is what more and more people are after these days.
According to Phuket International Airport, 751,141 passengers arrived in July – more than eight per cent higher than the corresponding month in 2011.
The majority of this increase was due to overseas arrivals which recorded a rise of 15.38 per cent.
It is not surprising that the charms of Phuket are becoming more mainstream.
As well as its paradise-style coastline the destination has a rich cultural history that is exemplified in places like the Thai Hua Museum and Wat Chalong.
