More international tourists are discovering the joys of Phuket.
The future of Phuket’s tourism industry looks bright according to new figures.
C9 Hotelworks, a consulting firm which specialises in the Asia-Pacific region observed an 11 per cent increase in airport arrivals during the first six months of 2012, as a total of 2.32 million people landed in Phuket, reports the Bangkok Times.
This in turn led to a very healthy occupancy rate of 75 per cent, so people wanting to see the delights of the Thai paradise would be well advised to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
But the demand for holidays on the island will eventually be eased with around 6,000 new rooms expected to be built by 2015.
Phuket offers a great alternative to Bangkok for those people who want to experience Thailand, but at a more relaxed pace.
The white sandy beaches and the crystal clear seas offer a serene atmosphere that many will find the perfect place to relax for a week or two.
