Bangkok offers a wide range of entertainment ideal for those interested in the martial arts, claims a local accommodation company.
Known locally as Mua Thai, Thai kick boxing is thought to date back around 400 years and traditionally was fought without any protection such as shoes or gloves.
There are eight points of contact in the sport – considerably more than the two and four used in other martial arts such as kung fu.
According to Bangkok Accommodation, one of the desirable places to learn Thai kick boxing is on the Thai island of Khao Tao, where there are a number of camps that specialise in providing training.
Khao Tao is located south of Hua Hin and offers a wide range of accommodation including private villas and luxury hotels.
