Cape town to be a year-round holiday hotspot

Cape Town is becoming increasingly with new types of tourist.

South Africa and Cape Town in particular are becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination for travellers from all round the world.

Nombulelo Mfeka, the City of Cape Town tourism director, said that people from Brazil, India and China were now finding out what Brits and other Europeans have known for years.

Flights to Cape Town have traditionally been taken by those in search of winter sun as the southern hemisphere location often basks in 30 degrees C sunshine – when many in European countries are clearing snow from their windscreens.

But now, not only are people from other areas of the world heading to South Africa, but they are arriving right throughout the year, Independent Online reports.

Jonathan Jacobs, chairman of Cape Chamber of Trade and Industries, explained that the region’s golf courses are an all year around attraction, while special events such as the Pick n Pay cycle tour would make the city popular with a wider range of tourists.
