Kerala Institute of Tourism and Travel Studies is about to receive affiliation from the World Tourism Organisation.

The Kerala Institute of Tourism and Travel Studies (KITTS) is about to add to its growing reputation, as it prepares to receive affiliation from the World Tourism Organisation (WTO).

It is an important accreditation for Kerala, as the WTO is the agency of the United Nations that is responsible for the promotion of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism.

Rajashree Ajith, director of KITTS, said that once the affiliation is confirmed the authority will look to widen ties with other countries by entering in partnerships with universities in the US and the UK.

“We regularly come out with fresh courses to keep in step with changes in the industry and right now we are working on a cookery course for tourists,” he added.

Recently, the institute developed a three-month naturalism course that looks at the benefits of implementing eco-tourism.

KITTS also confirmed that it is about to commence activities for its silver jubilee.
