Indian police will be train to point out the most interesting locals sites to tourists.
India is a country that is fast becoming a major new holiday hotspot.
Not only is it blessed with warm year-round temperatures and stunning natural scenery, there is so much to see and do on a cultural level too.
Often tourists can be come bewildered by the sheer amount of religious artefacts or the scale of some of the larger festivals that they miss out and do not get to see everything that they wanted to.
To combat this problem, authorities in the country are working hard to provide trained personnel who can act as guides.
The city of Dwarka is even using the local police force to help visitors out, reports the Times of India.
Praveen Sinha, an official in the city, said: “Tourists can contact tourist police for travel, hotel, transportation and any other assistance.”
He added that the current scheme is a pilot project, but if successful will be expanded to other areas of the country.
