The UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) has praised the Egyptian travel industry for recovery so quickly after the recent political troubles.
It is understood that the country’s key tourist sites have been reopened and flights to Egypt have operating normally.
Taleb Rifai, the organisation’s secretary-general, praised the country’s government for providing up-to-date information to travellers and travel agents during the recent events.
He added: “Tourism – a highly resilient economic sector – will be among the first sectors to rebound and is therefore well-positioned to support the overall economic recovery.
“UNWTO is working with the relevant authorities to ensure a speedy bounce back and the upcoming travel trade fair, ITB, will be a good opportunity to consolidate these efforts.”
This year’s ITB is to be held in Berlin from March 9th to March 13th.
