An annual shopping festival could tempt many shoppers to hop aboard a cheap flight to Dubai. The Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (DEPE) has announced the dates for the 32-day long festival at the start of next year which involves a wide-range of special shopping sales and promotions.

It is the 16th year the festival will be held in 2011 and the shopping extravaganza will kick off on January 20th and run until February 20th. However, the subsequent Dubai Summer Surprises event is set to be reduced to just 39 days due to Ramadan and school holiday periods.

A DEPE spokesperson said in a statement reported by Emirates24|7: “The dates for the DEPE festivals were announced as part of our efforts to allow residents and regional and international visitors to plan their holidays.”

The last festival involved around 6,000 retailers across Dubai as well as several hotels offering special promotions.

Meanwhile, the Jumeirah Lake Towers development, which includes a number of luxury hotels, is now 60 per cent complete and could offer ideal accommodation for those taking cheap flights to Dubai in the future.
