People booking flights to Thailand could head to Phuket later this month for the island’s Raceweek.
Sponsor Six Senses Resorts and Spas has revealed that one of the world’s top sailors will be attending this year’s event.
British Olympian Shirley Robertson will be watching all the action of the race from some of the designated spectator areas around the island.
Robertson won her first Olympic gold medal at the Sydney games in 2000 before taking a second gold in Athens four years later.
As well as all the action on the water to entertain anyone staying in Phuket during the event, there will be plenty to keep people occupied in the evenings too.
This is the seventh year that the Raceweek has been held in Phuket, with John Phillipson, Six Senses managing director of Thailand, commenting that it will show that the nation is “an outstanding place of peace, culture and natural beauty”.
