Thailand is likely to be on of the most popular destinations over the coming year, it has been revealed.

Flights to Thailand are likely to be in demand over the coming year,  new research has revealed.

Figures compiled by Skyscanner show that Bangkok is the 11th most searched for destination among British travellers, beating off competition from the likes of Barcelona and Paris.
The city has risen in popularity by 11 places over the last year.

“Medium and long-haul locations also seem to be on the rise compared to last year, suggesting that holiday budgets may be growing after a tough financial year,” said the company’s founder and business director Barry Smith.

Other destinations that made the top 50 include Sydney, Johannesburg, Auckland and Melbourne.

In related news, it was recently suggested that travellers are likely to find some good deals on flights throughout 2010.

Simon McNamara, director of industry affairs for the European Regions Airline Association, said the past 12 months have been tough for most carriers and many will be discounting tickets to attract holidaymakers this year.
