Thai people make great and friendly caddies for golf tourists, an expert has said
When most people think of a holiday in Thailand they imagine the exciting nightlife in Bangkok or the idyllic coasts of Phuket, but it is also an increasingly popular option for golf fans.
The country has some of the best facilities in the whole of Asia, but one expert believes that it is the caddying of the Thai people which appeals to a lot of players.
Golfasia’s Mark Siegel said: “In Thailand, everyone is treated as a guest. They are considered part of the family as soon as they arrive. The people do it because they are happy, not because it’s good business.”
He added that Thai caddies are not only very friendly they are also very knowledgeable about golf and the local course conditions.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand expects around 600,000 golfers to visit the country this year, making it the third most popular golf destination after the US and Spain.
