South African Airways has announced its plans to add one additional flight to India, connecting Mumbai with Johannesburg. From 03 October, SAA will offer daily, non-stop flights between the destinations.
South African Airways has announced daily, non-stop Mumbai-bound flights to India from Johannesburg, effective 03 October 2012.
The additional flight to India’s financial capital follows the fifth weekly frequency the carrier launched on 16 June and the sixth which is slated to commence from 21 August.
“The increase in frequencies echoes our commitment to the Indian market and means that SAA customers can catch a direct flight between Johannesburg and Mumbai any day of the week. This is also SAA’s response to market demand as over the last three years there has been a consistent growth in the market between southern Africa and India. South Africa’s entry into the BRICS alliance has also played a significant role leading to noticeable increase in investment activities between India and South Africa,” Theunis Potgieter, SAA’s General Manager Commercial said the airline’s press release.
It surely comes as good news for travellers who look for faster and convenient flights between the two prominent hubs. South African Airways is the only carrier that offers non-stop flights between South Africa and India. Even Britons and other European vacationers who plan twin centre holidays in these two top holiday destinations are set to be benefited.
SAA services the route with an A330-200 Airbus, one of the most fuel efficient aircraft in the airline’s fleet. 36 business class seats and 186 cheap economy class seats will be offered to the passengers.
SAA will also be adding capacity to other popular summer holidays routes. Flights between Sao Paulo and Johannesburg will be increased from 10 flights weekly to 11.
