Travellers to Cape Town can enjoy seeing a kite festival which is being held in the city.

People on flights to Cape Town next month can enjoy seeing some stunning aerial displays as part of the Cape Town International Kite Festival.

Taking place between October 22nd and 23rd 2011, the event this year has the theme of Uplifting Mind and Body.

Now in its 16th year, the festival is held at Muizenberg and is expected to attract around 20,000 people to see the feats of the fantastic kites which have come from across the globe.

As well as kite making and kite flying demonstrations, there are also lots of crafts stands and kids rides to keep people of all ages entertained during the two-day event.

Ingrid Daniels, director of Cape Mental health, which helps to organise the event, said: “By inviting people to fly their kites, and highlighting the connection between physical and mental wellbeing, we hope to uplift minds and bodies.”

People taking flights to Cape Town later in the year can also take in a performance by Canadian singer Tori Amos.
