American Airlines has revealed it will be making some changes to its winter schedule.
Travellers planning to take flights to South Africa or other destinations with American Airlines could be advised to check their flight times after it announced changes to the schedules.
The carrier stated that it will be altering its later autumn and winter schedules in response to the current economic situation and expected falls in capacity during the fourth quarter of this year.
“While our advance bookings are generally in line with last year, we are taking these additional steps in light of the uncertain economic environment … to ensure we run a reliable schedule for our customers,” said Virasb Vahidi, American Airline’s chief commercial officer.
In addition to the alterations, the carrier also announced plans to retire up to 11 of its Boeing 757 aircraft in 2012.
While there may be fewer services available, passengers on flights to South Africa and other countries with the carrier are now able to sample a new in-flight menu which has been prepared by chefs Richard Sandoval and Marcus Samuelsson.
