Travellers on American Airlines will now be able to play on tablet computers during their flight.

Travellers taking flights to Thailand and other countries will now be able to pass the time on their trip by playing on a tablet computer.

The carrier has announced that it will now be offering Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 devices for premium class travellers on some of its flights.

It marks the first time an airline has offered a branded tablet on board its aircraft and will replace the current personal entertainment systems which have been installed on its planes.

Rob Friedman, American Airline’s vice-president for marketing, said: “Today’s news is the latest in a series of investments we’ve made in our focus on product and service enhancements for our premium customers.”

He added he is sure passengers will be delighted with the contemporary experience of using a tablet.

Meanwhile, travellers taking flights to Thailand and other countries with Virgin Atlantic from London Heathrow will this Christmas be able to take advantage of a present wrapping service which is being offered by the airline.
