Travellers to Goa have been advised to make sure that they are experiencing some of the island’s unique culture.

People taking flights to Goa should be making sure that they are getting to experience some of the culture which is on offer in the region, according to one tourism official.

Speaking on World Tourism Day, Maverick Fernandes, secretary of the Centre for Social Justice and Peace, said that often tourism is reduced to a one-dimensional view of a location, which stops people from learning more about it.

“Culture is one of Goa’s most precious assets and tourism must seek to advance itineraries through which there can be an encounter of cultures in all tourism spaces,” Mr Fernandes said.

He listed that Goa is home to amazing examples of food, music, dance and nature, which are sure to inspire a huge range of visitors.

A religious event which could interest those on flights to Goa is Holi, a joyful event which sees people taking to the streets to take part in huge water and paint fights.
