The festival of Holi is one that must be seen by people who are travelling to India.

People heading on flight to Mumbai in the new year could be interested in taking part in some events being held to celebrate Holi.

The festival is one of the many annual religious events that are held in the country each year and Sharron Livingston, editor for thetravelmagazine.net, said it is one of the most fun things to take part in.

Known as the festival of colours, it is a time of great joy and she advised that people need to have a sense of gaiety in order to appreciate it as there is a lot of playfulness between even complete strangers.

“People take turns in pouring coloured water over each other and kids love spraying colours on one another with their pichkaris and throwing water balloons at passers-by,” Ms Livingston explained.

Travellers on flights to Mumbai with Air India could be interested in a new pass scheme which has been introduced, offering unlimited flights around the country for a set price.
