Goldie Hawn samples Indian culture

Hollywood actress Goldie Hawn is holidaying in India and has been seen embracing the local culture.

Goldie Hawn has been spotted silk shopping and meditating on a trip to India.

Pictures published in the Daily Mail show the 63-year-old actress with a bindi dot on her forehead as she meditated on a boat and spent time in the historic city of Varanasi.

Hindus consider the city in the province of Uttar Pradesh to be the most sacred spot on earth.

Speaking to the Press Trust of India, Hawn said: “I am fascinated by India and its culture and colours. This is my seventh visit to the holy city and the main purpose of the visit was to pay homage to my late guru who imparted me lessons in astrology and spirituality.”

Travellers who want to follow in the Overboard star’s footsteps may want to think about booking flights to Delhi or Mumbai, where both rail and air connections are available to Varanasi.

Visitors to the city who are interested in religion may like to take a trip to see the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and the Gyanvapi Mosque, which lie next to each other.
