Egypt is an excellent destination for watersports enthusiasts, it has been suggested.
Alison Dando, marketing and membership manager at the British Sub-Aqua Club, said it is extremely popular with Britons as it is less than five hours away by plane and flights to Cairo and elsewhere can be booked easily from the UK.
“You are on beautiful aqua marine coral reefs with fantastic marine life, potentially in the larger pelagics you’ve got the sharks, you’ve got turtles and that’s just five hours away,” she commented.
Further afield, destinations such as the Caribbean, the Pacific and Indian Ocean offer excellent diving conditions.
