A new economy seat designed by Australian airline Qantas has won a prestigious design award, the carrier has reported.
The A380 Economy seat, designed by the airline’s creative director Marc Newson, has won the Australian International Design Award of the Year for 2009.
Lesley Grant, Qantas executive manager for customer and marketing, said: “The design and manufacture of an all-new Economy seat, offering passengers enhanced levels of comfort during long-haul travel, was a key focus of the Qantas A380 design project.”
She went on to say that passengers flying to Australia with the airline will be able to benefit from the newly-designed seat from their next generation of A380 aircraft – the flagship of the carrier’s business, she added.
Each Qantas A380 aeroplane has 14 luxurious First Suite seats, 72 fully-flat Skybed seats, 32 Premium Economy and 332 Economy seats.
Travellers flying to Sydney for a holiday in Australia may wish to head to the food and wine festival A Taste of Manly taking place from June 6th to 7th.
