Anyone who has booked flights to Australia and is wondering how to travel to the country’s centre may be interested in a new route planned by Virgin Blue.

People who are organising holidays to Australia will probably  want to see one of the country’s most recognisable landmarks – Uluru.

Located in the centre of Australia’s Northern Territory, it can be a difficult place to reach for tourists who have a limited time in the nation.

But for anyone who books flights to Sydney, a visit to the giant red rock could be made much easier.

Virgin Blue has announced that it will launch flights from the city to Uluru later this year.

From August 2nd, people will be able to book with the carrier to take them directly to one of Australia’s most iconic sights.

Revered by the native Aborigines as a sacred place, thousands of travellers flock to see the spectacular natural rock formation every year.

In 2009, a new viewing platform was constructed to allow those who make the journey have a better view of Uluru at sunrise.
