New research shows the majority of people are still planning to take at least one holiday over the next 12 months despite a lack of confidence in travelling.
According to the research, travellers are also becoming more aware on how to ensure they protect their belongings while away and of the need to book with reputable travel companies.
A total of 55 per cent of those surveyed felt having travel insurance and ATOL protection would increase their confidence about taking a holiday.
Rachel Croft, head of Post Office Travel Insurance, said: “It is encouraging to see that consumers have become more aware of the risks associated with travelling and as a result, are more likely to take the appropriate precautions.”
ATOL is a scheme that offers financial protection for holidaymakers. If any company that is licensed by ATOL collapses, customers are entitled to recover their losses and will not be left stranded abroad.
