The news that the British Lions are to spend time in Australia has been stated as being great news for the country’s tourism.
The news that the British Lions will be taking flights to Australia is going to be a great boost for the country’s tourism sector, according to one expert.
Andrew McEvoy, managing director with Tourism Australia, said that the arrival of the UK and Irish rugby squads in the country will be a fantastic opportunity for the nation.
He noted that the arrival of the two sides in mid-2013 will be good for many reasons.
“[It will] deliver for us both in international and domestic tourism terms, combining passions for sport, attendance to major events and best leveraging business event opportunities around this signature rugby experience,” Mr McEvoy said.
The tourism authority will work in conjunction with tour operators to offer a range of activities and services for fans attending the games to enjoy.
Some people on flights to Australia who wish to see more of the country could head to Perth, as the number of Qantas journeys from the airport have been increased for the summer months.
