Travellers planning a trip to Sydney this week may want to think about heading down to the Bondi to Bronte Ocean Swim on Sunday (December 6th).

The ninth annual Bondi to Bronte Ocean Swim is due to take place this Sunday (December 6th) and is a spectacle not to be missed for anyone on holidays to Sydney this week.

In the main event, competitors will have to complete a course that ranges between 2.1 and 2.4 kilometres and runs from in front of the Bondi pavilion to Bronte Beach.

Last year saw a record number of participants taking to the water and the 2009 swim promises to be equally popular.

Anyone who does not want to take part in the race can sit and watch from either of the beaches or the cliffs which separate the start and end points.

A junior event kicks off the day at 9:00 local time, with the main contest starting at 10:00 local time.

Competitors have to pay to take part, with all the proceeds being donated to the Bronte and Bondi Surf Live Saving Clubs to purchase and maintain vital equipment.
