Air India to Start Direct Operations to Australia

Air India is commencing its operations to Australia after a long absence. In a bid to offer seamless connectivity to travellers seeking tickets aboard flights, the carrier is going to fly direct services on the route.

The flag carrier of India, Air India is all set to begin operations to Australia from August 29, offering tickets for direct flights running between the countries.

After 16-year absence from Australia, the national carrier will to fly a triangular route between Delhi, Sydney and Melbourne using its new fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. It is offering tickets for flights operating seven days a week. It is mulling to operate three weekly between Delhi – Melbourne – Sydney – Delhi and four weekly in opposite direction.

The airline’s Commercial Director said that the airline wanted to split direct services between Sydney and Melbourne to give “both cities the benefits of non-stop services”.

So far, there are no direct flights connecting Australia and India. Singapore Airlines offering flights via Singapore played a significant role in the sector. Industry experts believe that these operations are major step towards improved connectivity to Australia. The move will definitely meet the growing demands of business as well as leisure vacationers seeking tickets for nonstop flights between the nations.

Passengers can take advantage of special features of avant-garde Dreamliner. They can reserve tickets for 256 seats including 18 in business class and enjoy a range of in-flight entertainment, food and more. As per the media report, the carrier has started taking tickets booking for Australia route.
