The wide range of holiday experiences offered by travel companies is encouraging people to travel to more luxurious destinations, it has been claimed.
According to Sharon Livingston, editor of Luxury Travel magazine, there are unlikely to be reductions in travel at the higher end of the market as these people generally have more disposable income.
“I certainly think that the innovative types of experiences that are available will have increased and piqued people’s interest to travel,” she commented.
“It entices people to go out and holiday using those modes of holiday transport or holiday experiences and experience really is the key word.”
According to the International Luxury Travel Market, the luxury travel industry is booming, with these holidays amounting to 25 per cent of international tourism spend.
Meanwhile, a survey carried out by Luxury travel found that holidays to Dubai, India and Australia are among those predicted to increase during 2008.
