In its endeavour to delight passengers taking Bangalore bound flights to India, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has introduced its very own taxi service, labelled ‘The Airport Taxi’ at the international airport.
Billed as the first service of its sort in India, the Airport Taxi, with its unique signature logo and a promise of superior quality of comfort, is set to give other taxi services a run for their money. The Airport Taxi will follow a uniform fare policy and will be tracked by Global Positioning System (GPS).
Online media sources reveal that the Airport Taxi, inaugurated last week, is presently operating with a fleet of 1,400 taxis and another 600 will be added to the fleet by the end of 2012.
With new taxi service, not only extravagant travellers but also budget travellers spending on airline tickets for cheap flights to India for holiday breaks or business tours would be able to find quick travel connection to prominent city points.
The fleet will operate with high-tech technology and feature modern equipment like GPS/GPRS, digital fare meters, printers and POS machines to collect payment. Foreign travellers would also be able to enjoy the services of highly skilled and multi-lingual chauffeurs who are trained to deal pleasantly with tourists from across the globe.
Bangalore International Airport Limited Vice President, Commercial, RenĂ© Baumann was quoted as saying, “We at BIAL consider the drivers as brand ambassadors who have a key role in helping us deliver an experience. We contribute towards enhancing their abilities by providing skill training, defensive driving and basic firefighting. We add to their personal well-being by conducting free eye check-up camps as well.”
He further said, “Currently they have dedicated taxi holding areas with wash room and cafeteria facilities; in future we plan to add to this facility and include shower facilities, a gas station and car wash. Our attempt is to ease their stressful jobs which will reflect in passenger’s safety and experience. We are delighted to offer this huge fleet and mark a significant change in the transport experience of the city.”
