India and Maldives are planning to increase flight operations between the major Indian cities and Maldivian capital of Male. The move is directed to promote tourism between the two countries.
International travellers looking for flights between India and Maldives may very soon have added flight options available to them. Both the countries are looking forward to increase flight operations between popular Indian cities and Male, revealed online sources.
Maldivian delegates met the Indian authorities in New Delhi to discuss the bilateral air services agreement between the two countries.
As per the current agreement, the carrying capacity of flights to and from Maldives is limited to 150. The officials said, “India will relook the agreement which will help in boosting tourism between the two countries.”
Indian authorities are contemplating to reconsider the bilateral air services agreement which does not allow flights to and from this Indian Ocean destination with a carrying capacity of more than 150.
The senior officials also requested the Maldivian delegates to make proactive efforts to facilitate these flights operations.
A good number of airlines, except Air India, the national carrier, run flights from India to Maldives with a higher capacity. On the other hand, many Indian and foreign carriers like Island Aviation, Mega Maldives and SpiceJet are planning to commence flights from India’s popular cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai to Male.
Maldives and India are highly popular destinations among international tourists across the globe. The enhanced flights operation is sure to benefit the international vacationers taking flights between the two countries.
