Vaisakhi is the festival of Sikh community from the Indian sub-continent and is said to mark the Sikh New Year and the harvest festival. This annual festival dates back to the year 1699 and is officially celebrated on the 14th April every year. Millions of Sikhs all over the world celebrate Vaisakhi with great enthusiasm, cultural activities and folk dance performances; massive traditional parades are the most significant part of the celebrations.
“We are delighted to express our support for this sacred festival which is celebrated by the Sikhs and Indians all over the world. It was a well attended event and promised us an extensive brand outreach,” said Jaymin Borkhatria, Director of Sales, Southall Travel.
“We have recently launched new, exclusive pre-summer offers for holidays and flights to India and the Subcontinent, and this colourful event offered us a great opportunity to engage with our target audience,” he added.

The Southall Parade, which is held on a Sunday a week or two before Vaisakhi, was held on 10th April this time. Thousands of people joined the procession to celebrate the festival; even the Mayoral candidates Labour’s Sadiq Khan and Conservative Zac Goldsmith were spotted in the parade enjoying the 2016 Vaisakhi festivities.
