Travelling overseas for a holiday costs less than taking a break in Britain, one company has claimed.
Holidays in foreign destinations are still cheaper than taking a vacation in the UK, a new report has revealed.
“Unlike the UK where prices have remained the same, tour operators, airlines and hoteliers have recognised the need to drop prices in order to attract British tourists,” explained Alistair Daly, marketing director at On the Beach.
He went on to say that there were “thousands” of great deals available on holidays this year and that some were up to 30 per cent less expensive than in summer 2008.
Research from the company found that some 85 per cent of its customers were continuing to travel overseas this year for a holiday.
Mr Daly added that taking a holiday in Thailand or other long-haul destinations could offer travellers better value for money once they are in the resort.
Some 69 million foreign holidays were taken by Brits in 2008, according to the Office for National Statistics.
