Well-known as a mecca for backpackers, Mark Hodson of the Times states that Ko Pha-Ngan has plenty to offer for all kind of travellers, particularly if they head to the north of the island.
Here, via a dirt track through the rainforest, holidaymakers will find Ao Thong Nai Pan Noi, which is described as “a perfect crescent of silky white sand lapped by a sparkling emerald sea”.
Mr Hodson adds that it is the perfect place to kick back and forget about any kind of problems in the real world.
Not only this, but Ko Pha-Ngan has accommodation to suit all kind of budgets, including some simple bungalows which cost the equivalent of only £10 a night.
Ko Pha Ngan featured prominently in Alex Garland’s 1997 novel The Beach and is situated about 55 kilometres from the mainland.
