Thailand’s Banyan Tree Spa has been named as spa academy of the year for the second-year running. The sixth Annual AsiaSpa Awards were decided by a panel of judges – all of experts in the field of spa, healing and beauty.

“This award is a testimony of Banyan Tree Spa’s strong brand recognition and service quality, as well as the result of our core focus on the rigorous training and development of our spa therapists at Banyan Tree Spa Academies,” said Ravi Chandran, managing director of Banyan Tree Spa.

Banyan Tree Spa Phuket recently picked up two major awards – the Conde Nast Traveller UK Readers’ Travel Awards 2010 for Favourite Overseas Hotel Spa and Thailand Tourism Awards 2010 for Outstanding Performance Award for Health Tourism – Destination Spa.

Opened in 1994, the Banyan Tree Spa in Phuket was the first in the region to make use of a tropical garden spa and encourage a “high-touch, low-tech” approach to treatments.
