Inter Continental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced plans to add an additional property to its Hotel Indigo portfolio.

The new hotel will be the second resort for the bran in Thailand and is set to open in the summer of 2014 in Phuket.

Its location will be ideal for those taking flights to Phuket as it will be built close to the north end of Nai Thon beach and will be around 15 minutes from the international airport.

Jan Smits, the hotel chain’s managing director in Asia and Australasia, explained that the brand is set to add more properties in the coming years following strong demand.

He added: “Globally, we are aggressively expanding Hotel Indigo’s distribution – our focus is on bringing our newest and fast-growing Hotel Indigo brand into markets where there is demand, with current developments in key cities like New York, Hong Kong and Bangkok, where the first Hotel Indigo in Thailand will be located.”

There are a total of 38 Hotel Indigo properties across the world, with a further 62 currently being developed.
