Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts has confirmed that it will start managing the Sheraton Grande Laguna in Phuket from the start of July this year.
The hotel is currently managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts but the contract is ending on June 30th. It is understood that the resort will undergo extensive refurbishment costing $30 million before being opened under Banyan Tree’s sister brand Angsana Hotel & Resorts as the Angsana Laguna Phuket.
Arthur Kiong, managing director of hotel operations for Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts, said: “We chose Laguna Phuket in Thailand to have our Angsana flagship property as that will drive our operation standards from a strong operations base and to also set new benchmarks for 15 more Angsanas in the pipeline for the group.”
He added that the revamped Angsana Laguna Phuket resort will include a special kids’ club facility as well as a spa, a retail gallery, meeting rooms, and a 358 square metre ballroom.
Banyan already operates the Banyan Tree Phuket, which was ranked as the eighth best resort in the world in the Condé Nast Traveller 20th Annual Readers’ Choice Awards.
