Travellers taking flights to South Africa could benefit from a new fitness programme to be rolled out by Sheraton Hotels & Resorts.A total of $120 million (£75.8 million) is going to be invested into all of the company’s top resorts in order to allow guests access to a special health and fitness initiative during their stay.

Core Performance, a key provider in training and nutrition programmes, is teaming up with Sheraton to provide the service in all hotels by the end of 2011.

Hoyt Harper, senior vice president, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts explained: “Fitness and travel go hand in hand and we have heard from our guests that working out is a priority when they are on the road.”

Research quoted by the hotel firm estimates that 40 per cent of business travellers skip breakfast when travelling and 23 per cent fall asleep in meetings due to lack of sleep but exercise could help to reduce this.

Sheraton has three hotels in South Africa, located in Cape Town, Hermanus and Pretoria.
